April 26th is Healthy Kids Day at the Doris Miller YMCA! Come out and learn ways to improve the health of your family! There will be several activities for adults and kids to participate in!
To kick off the event, there will be a ribbon cutting to officially open the walking trail to the community to use for free!

Notice: Tobacco Free Campus

The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District, City of Waco Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation departments care for the health of McLennan County residents. For this reason, the campus will become Tobacco Free on May 1, 2014. This policy will not allow tobacco products of any kind to be used on the campus at 201 and 225 W. Waco Drive which includes both the Municipal Services and Waco-McLennan County Public Health District buildings and all adjacent parking lots.

Diabetes Education Information

Don’t let diabetes control you, take control of your diabetes. For information about FREE diabetes self-management classes and cooking classes, contact Armando Galindo at 750-5631 or via email at armandog@ci.waco.tx.us. Together, we can create a healthier and stronger community!

The FDA has been working on a diabetes initiative to remove from the market illegal products, including some labeled as dietary supplements that claim to mitigate, treat, cure or prevent diabetes and related complications. The agency recently warned 15 foreign and domestic companies that the sale of their illegally marketed diabetes products violates federal law.
