A PROJECT OF THE POWER
OF PREVENTION COALITION

May is American Stroke Month!

May is American Stroke Month!

May is American Stroke Month and we are building a legion of Stroke Heroes to fight a vicious enemy – stroke.

Stroke Heroes are people who know the F.A.S.T. stroke warning signs. They call 911 immediately when a stroke emergency happens. They’re the ones who may make the difference between life and death, or between full recovery and permanent disability. They’re the heroes we all want to be. They’re the heroes we want around us, ready to help if we need them.

Stroke is the No. 1 cause of preventable disability and the fifth leading killer in the nation. But there’s good news: Stroke is largely preventable, treatable and beatable, with your help.

This American Stroke Month, become a Stroke Hero and ask everyone you know to join the mission to save and improve lives.

  • Learn F.A.S.T. – an easy way to remember the common symptoms of a stroke:
F – Face Drooping, A – Arm Weakness, S – Speech Difficulty, and T – Time to Call 911. Learn more and spread the word with these tools and resources.
  • Take our Stroke Quiz to test your knowledge and see if you are ready to become a Stroke Hero.
  • Build a team of F.A.S.T. Lifesavers by downloading and sharing our free F.A.S.T. mobile app with your friends, family and community.
